Casting For: A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The Musical
A UK open air tour – 24/06/23 – 19/08/23
Project Details:
We are a family run theatre company and we are very excited to be casting a number of different roles for a national open air tour of a brand new family musical adaptation of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The Musical’. This will be a modern language adaptation of the famous Shakespeare play.
Rehearsals will be the 24th June to the 7th of July in Felixstowe. Accommodation will be provided during this time and there will be at least one day off per week. Performances will be the 8th July to the 19th August during this time there will be at least one day off per week. The job will require get ins, get outs and, of course, performing in a fantastic show, previous outdoor performing experience is a bonus but not mandatory. We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic actors with experience of and a demonstrable passion for family theatre, musicals and outdoor performance.
We highly recommend writing a cover letter, which gives you an opportunity to tell us things that are not necessarily obvious from your CV. In your cover letter please detail any previous experience that you have had relating to this job, your singing range and an email contact. We ask you to include a video of a monologue that would be suitable for a family audience of no more than 2 minutes. Think larger than life, over the top characters. From there we may invite you to an in person workshop audition in Colchester on the 11th May.

Oberon, Theseus and others
Oberon is King of the Fairies and causes mischief for his estranged wife, Titania. Theseus is the Duke of Athens.
We are looking for an energetic and engaging performer who can sing and move well. Experience of open-air theatre, family theatre and musicals is a big bonus.
We are particularly keen to hear from people who are under-represented in the arts.
The rate of pay is £105 per show day and £84 per rehearsal day. The contract will also include holiday pay and overtime.

Hermia and others
Hermia is in love with Lysander but runs away when she is told she must marry Demetrius.

Helena is in love with Demetrius and would do anything for him. Titania is Queen of the fairies and is estranged from her husband, Oberon.

Puck
Puck is a mischievous spirit and works for Oberon. He is fast and magical and narrates the whole show.
We are looking for an energetic and engaging performer who can sing and move well and hold the attention of the entire audience. Experience of open-air theatre, family theatre and musicals is a big bonus.
