A letter to our audience.

A letter to our audience.

Dear brave and wonderful theatregoers,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Boxtree Productions will not be producing and
touring shows anymore. After 10 years of bringing live performances to open air venues
across the country, the time has come for us to step back and cease producing. This decision
has not been made lightly, and we want to take a moment to explain the reasons behind it.
In recent years, the costs associated with producing and touring live shows have increased
dramatically. From rising wages to skyrocketing accommodation and travel expenses, the
financial burden of putting a show on the road has become unsustainable for us.

Despite our best efforts to manage these costs, they have simply grown beyond what we can bear while
still delivering the high-quality productions that our audiences expect and deserve.
In addition to the financial challenges, the unpredictability of the weather has increasingly
impacted our outdoor performances. Unforeseen weather disruptions have led to cancelled
shows, reduced attendance, and last-minute changes that affect the overall experience for
both our cast and audiences. This instability has added yet another layer of difficulty to an
already challenging situation.

Most importantly, we have come to realize the toll that producing has taken on the lives of
our children and family. The constant travel, long hours, and time spent away from home
have disrupted the balance we strive to maintain in our personal lives. As parents, we have
had to made the decision to prioritize the well-being and stability of our children above all
else.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from our audiences, venues, and
partners over the years. Boxtree Productions has been a labour of love, and we are proud of
the work we have done and the shows that we have produced. While this chapter is ending,
we remain passionate about the arts and hope to find new ways to contribute in the future.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Your enthusiasm and encouragement have meant
the world to us, and we will always cherish the memories we’ve created together.

As Badger said at the end of our show this Summer: “May you always find joy in the stories
that we have shared, for in every story told, a piece of our hearts lives on.”

With heartfelt gratitude,
James, Abi and all of the Boxtree Productions team.
